BSF Presentation and Have you got the bottle? It was agreed to split into two teams in order to make sure that both events are completed to the best of our ability

Sustainable schools with DMU

Hopefully we will have the opportunity to work with a representative from De Montfort Uni to do some work on sustainablility

We need to go to the orchard at some point to collect logs in order to make them in to bird boxes

We have agreed to meet every lunch time for the next week to make sure that we are cracking on with our work for the 2 events.

Plan of action BSF presentation and 350

This year, Mr Wilby has decided on an environmental theme for the school radio station. Obviously this is right up our street. I think we need to use the expertise that we have gathered over the years of Eco Martyrs to put forward some ideas for programmes for the radio station.

Mr Wilby has said he is happy to train people to broadcast on the radio so get involved.

What do you think?

The school council have asked us for suggestions on how to make the school more eco friendly when the school is refurbished in a couple of years time.

Eloise and Sophia will need to have some suggestions to feedback to the school council in the last week of term.

I thought it would be a good idea to start an online list which we could all contribute to when we think of something worthwhile.

Try to keep suggestions sensible….we would all like a safari park on the school field but it’s not going to happen.

Eco challengers – We will be coppicing some trees on the Orchard this Friday afternoon. Letters will hopefully be given out tomorrow. But just to make sure you are aware! Please make sure you bring warm clothes, water proofs and wellies! Safety equipment will be provided.

Here is a new thread to discuss our plans for raising awareness of the climate conference in Copenhagen.

We have decided to use the ideas from the 350.org website and collect plastic bottles/items in order to create a piece of art work to be photographed for the website.

So far we have agreed upon a name for our project: Have you got the bottle?

We agreed that the event should be run in the week beginning Monday 14th December to coincide with the last week of the Copenhagen Conference. This alos gives us plenty of time to sort out the event.

We think that we should have collection boxes in each form room for Yr 7 and Yr 8. We would also like collection points in the KS 3 and KS 4 canteens, Staffroom and 6th form common room.

We need to think about ways to advertise the event and how we want to illustrate the idea of 350 ppm of Carbon target  in the atmosphere.

Hi everyone

Hope you’re having a nice holiday. I’m really tired cause last night I wnt to see the Kaiser Chiefs. They were amazing. It was amazing to think afterwards all the work that goes into a concert and the effect they might have on geography issues. That thing on the Live Geography website explains all about geography and how it is all around us.

What’s everyone else doing and what effect is it having on the enviroment?

Hi guys,

Just a quick announcement. I hope I spoke to the majority of people before this actually happened.

As a result of work commitments on my part and in order to make sure we actually achieved something EMAS and Eco Martyrs are joining forces. Together we will be able to do much more.

I hope every one is ok with this.

Our first joint meeting will be in SC2, Miss O’Gormans room, on Friday 10th of October at lunch time.

I am sure just about everyone has heard, but just incase, we will be uniting with EMAS. I am sure we will stillbe able to play our own parts in making the school more eco- friendly.  And with more people particularly from the EMAS club we can get the garden set up faster.

Also Miss O’ Gorman has asked us (who was at the meeting at lunch today) to write a list of hazzards on the way to school and near school. This list needs to be handed to me, Daniel, so I can raise it at the latest MAIN (alot of people associate the main school council with the year council. They are two seperate groups.)MAIN School Council Meeting.

We also will be meeting the EMAS club on Friday lunchtime, so you can hand these to me then.

Hope you all had a good holiday. Mine flew by!

Well….. A new year and renewed enthusiasm. Although I have to say I have never seen any of you lose yours!

I would like to meet quite early on this term to get the committee up and running in order to start getting our ideas and projects implemented.

First thing we need to do is find a date and advertise the eco martyrs in order to get members and have a decent number of people to strive to achieve our aims.
